# Visibox 6.0 Preview: Try It Now > Play multiple clips at once across multiple screens, lyrics and chord charts, scripted song timelines, lighting console and OSC control, shader effects, overlays, and direct output to other apps, the network, or a recording. The Visibox 6.0 preview is out now for Mac and Windows. Visibox 6.0 Visibox 6.0 is the biggest release we've ever made, and you can try it today. **[Download the preview](/downloads)** for macOS or Windows. If Visibox 5 was about what a single clip could do, 6.0 is about **many things at once**: many clips on screen, many screens, many places to send your show, and many ways to control it. ## Before you install It's a preview, so everything in it is real and working, but it hasn't been through our full release testing yet. A few things to know: - **It installs beside Visibox 5, not over it.** The preview is a separate app called VisiboxPREVIEW, with its own updates. Visibox 5 stays installed, so you can switch back to it whenever you have a show to play. - **Work on a copy of your projects.** 6.0 opens your Visibox 5 projects just fine. But if you save a project in 6.0 and then go back to Visibox 5, anything 6.0 added (setlists, overlays, poly mode, and so on) is gone. Duplicate a project before you open it in the preview. - **Settings and MIDI mappings start fresh.** The preview keeps its own, separate from Visibox 5. - **Stream Deck works through the Elgato plugin only.** Install it from Settings > Devices > Stream Deck. See [Stream Deck](https://manual.spaceage.tv/6.0.0/stream-deck) in the manual. - **Features marked (Beta)** need to be switched on under Settings > General > Enable Beta Features. - **The preview retires when 6.0 ships.** You'll see a banner on release day, and two weeks later it asks you to download the final version. And come talk it over with us and other testers on [Discord](/discord). ## More than one clip at a time **[Polyoptic playback](https://manual.spaceage.tv/6.0.0/poly-mode)** is the headline feature. Until now, starting a clip stopped the one before it. In 6.0 a song can hold up to **eight clips on screen together**. Think of polyphony on a synth: press a second key and you get a second voice instead of cutting off the first. That's polyoptic, and it's polyphony for pictures. Choose how the clips share the stage: - **Blend** layers them on top of each other. - **Mosaic** tiles them side by side and reflows as clips come and go. - **Stack**, **Horizontal Stripes**, **Vertical Stripes**, and **Spots** give you other ways to split the frame. A song set to **Mono** works the way Visibox always has, so nothing changes until you ask it to. Playing clips feels different now, too: - **[Launch Modes](https://manual.spaceage.tv/6.0.0/launch-modes).** Trigger works like it always has. **Gate** keeps a clip on screen only while you hold the key, pad, or button down. **Toggle** latches on and off. Gate even works on the clip grid itself: press a clip to play it, let go to stop it. - **Clips fire on press**, not on release, so they feel like an instrument under your fingers. - **Velocity sensitivity.** Hit a MIDI pad harder and the clip comes in louder, like a hardware sampler. - **Audio Clips.** A sound file is now a clip of its own, for stingers, sound effects, or a second track on cue. ## Shape your clips - **In and out points** trim any video or audio clip to just the part you want. Build a dozen clips, or an entire show, from one long video without re-rendering anything. - **Loop Crossfade** blends a looping clip's end back into its start, hiding the jump. - **Wipe and push transitions** join the familiar fade. - **Rotate to any angle**, with snaps at 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees. - **Better reverse playback**, with sound, at full quality. - **Any clip as your project background:** a camera, a visualizer, or a color, not just a video file. ## Effects and overlays - **[ISF shader effects](https://manual.spaceage.tv/6.0.0/effects)** now run alongside CSS effects, so the whole library of ISF effects out there works on your clips. Stack them, reorder them, and **tweak each clip's settings** on its own. - **Choose what your effects react to:** the Visibox mix, a microphone, a line input, or the sound coming out of another app. Play a track in Spotify or your DAW and your visuals move with it. - **[Overlays](https://manual.spaceage.tv/6.0.0/overlays)** put a logo or a lower third on top of everything. Set it for a whole project, a single song, or one clip. ## Send your show anywhere - **[Spread your show across multiple screens](https://manual.spaceage.tv/6.0.0/settings/canvas)** in rows and columns, each with its own scale, rotation, and flip. The new Canvas settings let you lay out your rig visually, and the layout straightens itself out if a display gets unplugged mid-show. - **[NDI output (Beta)](https://manual.spaceage.tv/6.0.0/output)** streams your show to any NDI receiver on the network, with audio. - **SDI output to Blackmagic DeckLink cards (Beta)**, with audio. - **Syphon on Mac and Spout on Windows (Beta)** hand your live output straight to OBS, Resolume, VDMX, MadMapper, or TouchDesigner. No capture card, no screen recording. - **Record your output** to a video file with audio. Start it right away, or arm it to start on your next trigger. You can map it to MIDI or a Stream Deck button, too. ## Run it from anything - **[Lighting consoles](https://manual.spaceage.tv/6.0.0/integrations/lighting-console).** Patch Visibox as a fixture on grandMA, Hog, Eos, ChamSys, Avolites, or QLC+, and run your visuals from cues over sACN or Art-Net. The console picks songs and clips and rides intensity, volume, and color, while you build the show in Visibox. - **[OSC](https://manual.spaceage.tv/6.0.0/integrations/osc).** Drive Visibox from TouchOSC, Lemur, QLab, Resolume, or Max/MSP. Visibox announces itself on the network, so most apps find it on their own. - **[Real-Time Control](https://manual.spaceage.tv/6.0.0/real-time-control).** Assign up to eight named Controls to clip and effect settings, then ride them from a MIDI fader, OSC, a Stream Deck, or an on-screen fader. - **Bitfocus Companion and Touch Portal** both work with the new Gate mode. ## Build and run the show - **[Setlists](https://manual.spaceage.tv/6.0.0/setlists).** Keep several running orders in one project and switch between them. Move songs around without deleting anything. - **[Song Timelines (Beta)](https://manual.spaceage.tv/6.0.0/editors/song-timeline).** Write out a song's clips, cameras, and visualizers on a timeline and Visibox fires them for you. Timelines can send MIDI too, so a song can change the patch on your keyboard at the right bar. - **[Lyrics and chord sheets (Beta)](https://manual.spaceage.tv/6.0.0/lyrics).** Paste in a chord sheet in almost any format (ChordPro, OnSong, chords over words, Nashville numbers, and more) and Visibox shows it on its own display where the band can read it. Tap along to time the lines, or let it scroll on its own. - **Play on Launch** starts the show as soon as Visibox opens, for installations that run unattended. - **Multichannel ASIO audio on Windows (Beta)** for interfaces with more than eight channels. ## A fresh coat of paint Every window in Visibox has been rebuilt on one consistent design, from Settings to the MIDI Map to the effect editors.
