Release: Visibox 6.0

Visibox 6.0

What’s new

Visibox 6.0 is our biggest update yet, and it’s out now for Mac and Windows. Visibox 5 was about what one clip could do. Visibox 6 is about many things at once: many Clips on screen, many screens, many places to send your show, and many ways to control it.

Your Projects open unchanged, and 6.0 is a free update for Pro subscribers and for Perpetual owners within their two years of updates. Download Visibox 6, or take the feature tour to see it by role.

Play many clips at once

  • Poly Mode: A Song can now play multiple Clips at the same time. Hit a pad and a Clip fires. Hit another and it layers on top instead of cutting off the first. Each Song’s Poly Mode decides how the Clips share the frame: Blend, Mosaic, Stack, Horizontal or Vertical Stripes, or Spots.

  • Launch Modes: Each Clip decides what a press does. Trigger starts it, Gate plays it only while you hold the pad, and Toggle switches it on and off. A small indicator on every Clip tile shows its mode at a glance.

  • MIDI velocity: Hit a pad harder and a video Clip’s audio comes in louder.

  • Audio Clips: A sound file can be a Clip of its own, so stingers and sound effects get their own pads. Pair one with a Visualizer and it draws a picture from its own sound.

Run the whole show from one app

  • Setlists: Keep several running orders in one Project and switch between them from the Project menu. Reorder a set without deleting anything.

  • Lyrics and chord charts (Beta): Paste in a chord sheet (ChordPro, OnSong, Nashville numbers, or plain chords over words) and Visibox puts the lyrics and chords on a screen that faces the band. Tap along to time the lines.

  • Song Timelines (Beta): A Song’s Clips, Camera Clips, and Visualizers fire on their own at the right moment, and the timeline can send MIDI, so your keyboard changes patch at the right bar.

  • ASIO on Windows (Beta): Backing tracks already put each stem on its own output. Now you can use every output on your ASIO interface, past the eight channels Windows Sound allows.

Multiple screens, more places to send the show

  • Multiple screens: Give every projector and display its own slice of one picture, and lay out the rig by dragging in the new Canvas settings. Each screen gets its own position, scale, rotation, flip, and compensation for a hardware wall controller. Or let a screen mirror the whole canvas.

  • NDI and SDI output (Beta): Send the show to any NDI receiver on your network, or to SDI through a Blackmagic DeckLink card. Both carry audio.

  • Syphon and Spout (Beta): Send the live output straight into OBS, Resolume, VDMX, MadMapper, or TouchDesigner, with no cable or capture card. Syphon on Mac, Spout on Windows.

  • Record your show: The Record button saves what the audience sees, with audio, to a video file. Record the whole canvas or just a region, at 720p, 1080p, 4K, 8K, or a custom size, and start now or with the next Clip.

  • NDI Cameras (Beta): Play NDI sources from your network (an NDI camera, another computer, or an app broadcasting NDI) as Camera Clips.

More ways to control it

  • Lighting consoles: Patch Visibox as one fixture on grandMA, Eos, ChamSys, Hog, Avolites, or QLC+, with a GDTF profile for desks that read GDTF. Cues pick Songs and Clips, run transport, and ride intensity, volume, and hue over sACN or Art-Net. One person can run lights and video from the same desk.

  • Visibox Remote: Hand the visuals to front of house. Visibox Remote, free for iPhone, iPad, and Android, lets your sound engineer pick Songs, fire Clips, step through the Setlist, and set the volume from a phone or tablet. It needs Visibox 6 on any Pro plan, with the phone or tablet on the same Wi-Fi as the computer.

  • OSC: Control playback, Songs, Clips, and volume from TouchOSC, QLab, Resolume, Max/MSP, or anything else that speaks OSC, and subscribe to feedback so your controller shows what Visibox is doing.

  • Real-Time Control: Point named Controls at Clip and Effect settings, then ride them live from a MIDI fader, a knob, or an OSC message.

  • Bitfocus Companion and Node-RED: Run Visibox from a Stream Deck, X-keys, or any panel Companion supports, or wire it into a Node-RED flow. See Apps and integrations.

  • Stream Deck plugin: Stream Deck now works through the Elgato plugin. Install it from Settings > Devices.

Effects and AI

  • ISF Effects: ISF shader Effects now run alongside the built-in CSS Effects, so the ISF Effects already out there work on any Clip. Stack several on one Clip and tweak them for that Clip alone. The rebuilt Effects Editor shows a live preview while you write.

  • Audio-reactive from anywhere: Effects can react to the Visibox mix, a microphone, a line input, or the sound coming out of another app.

  • More for your AI assistant: Claude, Cursor, and other assistants connected through the built-in MCP server can now write Song Timelines, build Setlists, and place Overlays, on top of writing Visualizers as ISF shaders while you watch.

And a lot more

  • Overlays: A logo or lower-third graphic above everything, for a whole Project, one Song, or one Clip.

  • In and out points: Play just part of a long video, and build a whole set from one file.

  • Loop Crossfade: Blends a loop’s end back into its start, so the wrap stops reading as a cut.

  • Wipe and push transitions: Up, down, left, or right, alongside the fade you already know.

  • Rotate to any angle: Anywhere from 0 to 360 degrees, with snaps at every quarter turn.

  • Any Clip as background: The Project background can be a video, image, camera, Visualizer, or color.

  • Reverse, Bounce, and Scratch: Out of beta. They now play a full-quality reversed copy, with sound.

  • Cut, copy, and paste: Move Clips and Songs between Projects. Their media files come along.

  • Play on Launch: Together with Launch at Login, Reopen Projects on Launch, and Launch Full Screen, the show starts when the computer does.

  • Redesigned interface: Every window rebuilt on one design. Settings is one window with nine categories, and Undo works there too. Visibox also launches and opens big Projects faster.

  • Updates in Settings: See your version, read the release notes for a newer one, and check for updates on demand.

The Free Plan does more

The limits stay where they were, 5 Songs per Project and 5 Clips per Song, but Free Plan users now get crossfades between Clips, a Background Clip, Clip speed and direction, Clip and audio end options, and ready-to-apply Effects, Visualizer, and Overlay presets. Compare Free and Pro.

Coming from Visibox 5

  • Stream Deck: The built-in Stream Deck mode is gone and its layout doesn’t carry over. Install the Elgato plugin from Settings > Devices before your next show.

  • Clips fire on press: Clips now fire when you press, not when you let go. If you prefer the old feel, turn off Trigger Clips on Press in Settings > General.

  • New names: When Clip Ends is now End Action, and a Placeholder Clip is now a Color Clip.

  • Running both versions: If you save a Project in 6 and then open and save it in Visibox 5, Visibox 5 drops everything 6 added (Setlists, Overlays, Poly Mode, and more) without a warning. Work on a copy if you run both.
